WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD!

Dearly Beloved, WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD! “As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom…” (2 Chronicles 7:17-18a NKJV). Undoubtedly, every person has many expectations from God, especially when such a person has done something worthwhile for God and humanity. Like Nehemiah, such persons would pray to God that God should remember them for the good things they have done (see Nehemiah 13:14, 22, 30). It is good to ask for God’s favour because of any good thing one has done for Him or humanity. However, as God gave King Solomon some conditions after his prayer of dedication for the new befitting temple he built for God, there are conditions for God’s favour in life. King Solomon built a befitting temple for God. He prayed a lengthy prayer to dedicate the temple (see 1 Kings 8:22-61; 2 Chronicles 6:12-42). He also led the Israelites to sacrifice many offerings to consecrate the temple (1 Kings 8:62-66; 2 Chronicles 7:1-10). In response to these prayers and offerings of dedication, God gave Solomon and the people of Israel some conditions to enjoy His favour both in the temple and anywhere they find themselves. Parts of these conditions are repentance from sins if they sin against God and walking faithfully before God. Not meeting these conditions means doom for Solomon and the people of Israel. Later in history, the Israelites incurred the wrath of God because of their unfaithfulness to Him (see 2 King 17, 25). God is ready to favour as many people that are ready to walk faithfully with Him. It is good to work for God and be good to other people. However, such goodness can never serve as a bribe for the favour of God. Only those who are walking faithfully with Him will be favoured by Him. John Henry Sammis said in his famous hymn: “When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, what a glory He sheds on our way; while we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, For there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” Do you want the favour of God? Walk faithfully with Him! In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: O Lord, help me to walk faithfully with You in all my endeavours.
