BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the Lord alone led [the people of Israel], and there was no foreign god with [the people of Israel]” (Deuteronomy 32:11-12 NKJV). *********** QUOTE FOR THE DAY When God stirs up the nest in your comfort, it is to make you stronger and lead you to your Promised Land. - Bayo Afolaranmi ************ PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY Pray that you will be able to come out stronger when God “stirs up your nest”.

WHEN GOD STIRS UP YOUR NEST!

Dearly Beloved, WHEN GOD STIRS UP YOUR NEST! “As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings, so the Lord alone led [the people of Israel], and there was no foreign god with [the people of Israel]” (Deuteronomy 32:11-12 NKJV). An eagle is a unique bird among other birds. Many lessons can be learnt from its uniqueness. One of such lessons is its deliberate stirring of the nest, where it keeps its chicks (or young ones) in order to teach them how to fly and be stronger. An eagle always builds its nest on tall trees or high cliffs that enemies cannot easily reach. The eagle that has been taking good care of its chicks for some time in this safe and comfortable nest would without warning stir up the nest, thereby making the chicks to be in danger of falling from the high place. As the chicks try to fly, the eagle would hover over the chicks and spread its wings to catch them and carry them on its pinions to safety. This is repeated on several occasions till the chicks could fly perfectly on their own to safety without the help of the mother eagle. In the Song of Moses, as Moses was about to leave the people of Israel after forty years of leading them to the verge of the Promised Land, he compared the dealing of God with the people of Israel to the stirring of the nest of an eagle so that the people of Israel would be able to be strong (see Deuteronomy 1:31; 32:11). He recounted how God had been with the people of Israel in the wilderness for forty years, leading them, encircling them, instructing them, keeping them as the apple of His eye, protecting them, feeding them, and taking them to where they were about to enter the Promised Land. The people of Israel did not know that God was training them to become a strong and formidable nation when they were passing through the wilderness experience. Are you also wondering why God is stirring up the nest in your comfort? Why would He allow you to face the difficulties you have presently? Why can He not make everything rousing for you? Why is He allowing the righteous to suffer? He is stirring up your nest so that you will become stronger. Job testified of God: “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold” (Job 23:10 NKJV). Apostle Peter considered this test as something done by fire (see 1 Peter 1:7). Despite this, it is to bring “praise, honor, and glory” to God. As the eagle is always with its chicks during and after the stirring up of the nest, and even taking the chicks to safety, the Lord is also with us (see Hebrews 13:5). He will hover over you, carry you on His wings, and lead you to your Promised Land (see Psalm 36:7; 61:4; 63:7; 91:4). So, when God stirs up your nest, it is to make you stronger. In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Pray that you will be able to come out stronger when God “stirs up your nest”.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR SCORE SHEET?

Dearly Beloved, WHAT WILL BE YOUR SCORE SHEET? “[Jotham] did what was right in the sight of the Lord; he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done” (2 Kings 15:34 NKJV). Recently, the theme of my family's morning devotional thought was about following good examples of fathers, as Uzziah and Jotham demonstrated. Both of them were kings in Judah. The former was the father of the latter. In the early years of Uzziah as king, he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and, undoubtedly, he instructed his children in the ways of the Lord and laid good examples for them until later in his years when he was successful and became proud towards God. However, his son followed his good example. As I led the devotional thought that morning, I emphasized that fathers should not only instruct their children to do good things, but they (the fathers) should be ready to show the example of doing good things to their children. Since the message that day was directly for me, the father of the house, I was challenged to allow my children to frankly tell me the good and bad examples they see in me. It was like giving them score sheets to evaluate me. Each of the children told me what they consider as good and bad in my behaviours. I decided not to defend myself that day for the good and seemingly bad behaviours they pointed out. As a father or a leader, can you allow your children or subordinates to evaluate you openly? What will your score sheet be if your children or subordinates have such an opportunity? Fathers have a great responsibility to show their children good examples. That is the best legacy they can give their children. Will your children score you high on this? What will be your score sheet? Happy Father’s Day! In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Pray for fathers for the grace to lay good examples for their children to follow.

BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV). *********** QUOTE FOR THE DAY Do you know the importance of the name JESUS? While it is good to identify with the name JESUS, it is the best to submit totally to the lordship of the unique Person that bears the name: Jesus Christ. Do not think that using the name of Jesus without surrendering your total life to Him and obeying His word will save you at the end of the day. - Bayo Afolaranmi ************ PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY Pray that you will totally submit your life to Jesus Christ and you will continue to do His will.

JESUS! HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR TOTAL LIFE TO THAT NAME?

Dearly Beloved, JESUS! HAVE YOU SUBMITTED YOUR TOTAL LIFE TO THAT NAME? “…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV). There was a trend recently on social media about the name, JESUS. Many people used images of the name as their display pictures. Others just typed the word to make the name trend. Some people posited that a popular Christian celebrity started the trend and others followed him. However, many of the people who made the name trend on social media do not really know the importance of the name nor submit to its supremacy in their lives. They just joined others out of religiosity to make the name trend on social media. Some of these people can be likened to those in Ephesus who joined an uproar without knowing the cause (see Acts 19:32). On the other hand, some of the people that joined the trending of the name Jesus are like the people in the days of Jeremiah who felt so secure because of the presence of God's temple (see Jeremiah 7). Those people thought the temple was a safe place to do all kinds of detestable things. Many contemporary “Christians” also believe that using the name of Jesus and involving in other religious activities without totally submitting their lives to the lordship of Jesus Christ would save them from perils and give them fortunes. The name Jesus is one of many common names in the Holy Bible (some people still bear the name today!). However, the name is peculiar to the Lord Jesus Christ. Some people called Him Jesus of Nazareth. He came to the world to save humanity from their sin (see Matthew 1:21). For this, Apostle Paul declared: “…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV). Do you know the importance of the name JESUS? While it is good to identify with the name JESUS, it is the best to submit totally to the lordship of the unique Person that bears the name: Jesus Christ. Do not think that using the name of Jesus without surrendering your total life to Him and obeying His word will save you at the end of the day. Remember, He said that everyone calling on Him will not enter His kingdom except those who do His will (see Matthew 7:21). Have you submitted your total life unto Him? In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Pray that you will totally submit your life to Jesus Christ and you will continue to do His will.

No church leader should be, no matter how highly placed or respected the leader may be. - Bayo Afolaranmi ************ PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY Pray that you will not make any person apart from Jesus Christ your ultimate role model in life.

ARE YOU NOT AT FAULT ALSO?

Dearly Beloved, ARE YOU NOT AT FAULT ALSO? “And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, ‘Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock”’” (Ezekiel 34:1-3 NKJV). During my sojourn in the United Kingdom some time ago, I discovered many pathetic things about the western world in less than a month. One of those things is the decline in the number of people who go to church, especially the absence of youth in most churches. Many church buildings have become empty and have been sold because of this. This was, and is still, a great burden to me, and I used to ask pastors when I was there what they were doing to bring back the youth into the church. Later, I discovered that I had been asking the wrong question! I met a lady in her early fifties who told me that the last time she went to church was when she was sixteen. I asked her why she stopped going to church. She told me a bitter truth about the church there: the church has become institutionalized, and the church leaders are not living by example. She cited some examples of the church leaders' atrocities then, which are becoming worse even today. One of such atrocities she emphasized is that most church leaders were getting richer at the expense of their congregations. She pointed out that the youth there will continue to abandon the church because the people of the church are not practising what they preach. I had no option that day but to agree with her because I knew that she was telling the truth. No wonder many people (especially the younger generation) are no longer interested in the things of the church. The indictment of the church leaders by this white lady reminds me of the leaders of the people of Israel in the time of Prophet Ezekiel (see Ezekiel 34). The Lord indicted these leaders because they were self-centred. They did not care about the people that they led. The people were suffering under their watch while the leaders continued to live in affluence. This made the people to wander away in search of care. God was not happy with these leaders and promised to hold them accountable (see verse 10). Are you a church leader? Are you not at fault also of this indictment? Are you not self-centred to the detriment of the people you are leading? Do you care about your congregation? Can your congregation follow your example or you are expecting them to just be following your messages? Do you attract people to the church, or are you driving them away from the church because of your way of life? Well, if you are just a member of a church, your church leaders' infamous way of life should not drive you away from the church. Jesus Christ is our ultimate role Model. He should be your standard (see Hebrews 12:1-2), not any church leader no matter how highly placed or respected. In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Lord, help me not to mislead the people you have entrusted into my care.
