Spiritual Digest for the Day 27Mar2022

BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible’” (Mark 10:27 NKJV). *********** QUOTE FOR THE DAY Do not rely on anybody, even yourself. Do not lose hope that your situation is beyond remedy. Man may fail because of his limitation. Things may reach a deadlock with man, but not with God. - Bayo Afolaranmi ************ PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY O God, let me totally depend on you in all things, especially those that are beyond my control.

NOT WITH GOD

Dearly Beloved, NOT WITH GOD “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible’” (Mark 10:27 NKJV). Our God is the God of all possibilities. Nothing is impossible with Him, except for things contrary to His divine attributes (see Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; 2 Timothy 2:13; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18). God is the infinite God. He can do all things. He knows all things. He is above all things. He is the Creator of all things. In fact, He is the eternal God that has been before the creation of all things. He is when there are all things. He will continue to be when all things are no more (cf. Hebrews 13:8). What a God! On the contrary, man is finite. He cannot do all things. He does not know all things. He is not above all things. He is just a created being. In fact, he "is of few days and full of trouble" (Job 14:1 NKJV). Jesus Christ brought out this great difference between God and man when His disciples were amazed at His teachings about the kingdom of God. He said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible’” (Mark 10:27 NKJV). You can also read Genesis 18:14; Jeremiah 32:17, 27; Luke 1:37; 18:27; Philippians 3:21. What is the implication of this glaring difference? Total dependence on God, and not man. One should not rely on anybody, even oneself. One should not lose hope that one's situation is beyond remedy. Man may fail because of his limitation. Things may reach a deadlock with man, BUT NOT WITH GOD. All things are possible with Him! “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God” (Luke 18:27 NKJV). In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Request: O God, let me totally depend on you in all things, especially those that are beyond my control in Jesus' name. Amen.

Spiritual Digest for the Day 20Mar2022

BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV). *********** QUOTE FOR THE DAY You do not need to be dismayed in whatever you are passing through or about to pass through. All you need to do is to trust in God. He will take care of you. - Bayo Afolaranmi ************ PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY Pray that you will always experience the care of God in all ramifications of your life.

GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU

Dearly Beloved, GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU “…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7 NKJV). I am not sure if I have ever based any of my weekly devotional messages on the comforting hymn, “GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU” composed by Mrs Civilla Durfee Martin (1866-1948). Mrs Martin was the wife of a Baptist pastor, Walter Stillman Martin (1862-1935). They were great evangelists. The wife was sick while they had an evangelistic engagement. As the husband contemplated cancelling the appointment, their nine-year-old boy asked a simple question: “Don’t you think God can take care of Mum?” The question was a great inspiration to Mrs Martin as she composed a poem that became the popular hymn titled “GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU”. God did take of Mrs Martin as she was healed and felt much better later in the day. After its composition, Rev. Martin wrote the music to the poem and added the new hymn to the hymns he was compiling for publication. God will indeed take care of His people (see Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7). They do not to be dismayed whatever happens to them because they abide under His wings of love (see Psalm 91). He will take care of them every day, all the way. God will take care of His people when their hearts fail through days of toil. He will take care of them when fierce dangers attack their path (see Psalm 23:4). God will take care of His people by providing for all their needs, and He will not deny them of anything they ask from Him provided it according to His will for them (see 1 John 5:14). God will take care of His people no matter what may be their test or temptation (see 1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, His people should learn how to trust in Him because He will take care of them (see Proverbs 3:5-6). Are you part of the people of God? God will take care of you. You do not need to be dismayed in whatever you are passing through or about to pass through. All you need to do is to trust in Him. God will take care of you. He will meet you at the point of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (see Philippians 4:19). He has promised never to leave nor forsake you (see Hebrews 13:5). In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Pray that you will always experience the care of God in all ramifications of your life.

But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her’” (Luke 10:39-42 NKJV). *********** QUOTE FOR THE DAY Slow down and invest yourself in knowing God; let His Word reveal Himself to you. BIBLE VERSE FOR THE DAY “Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem. DISCONNECT YOURSELF FROM EVIL COVENANTS

Dearly Beloved, DISCONNECT YOURSELF FROM EVIL COVENANTS “Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and by marriage he allied himself with Ahab” (2 Chronicles 18:1 NKJV). “Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned safely to his house in Jerusalem. And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, ‘Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord? Therefore the wrath of the Lord is upon you. Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God’” (2 Chronicles 19:1-3 NKJV). Jehoshaphat, son of Asa, was a good king in Judah. Unlike many other kings that reigned before and after him, he sought the face of God and walked in the good ways of David, his ancestor. He did not consult the false gods that other kings had put in place in the land. In fact, he destroyed the shrines of these false gods. After that, God established him and made him prosperous. Unfortunately, he allied himself by marriage with Ahab, the evil king of Israel. He collaborated with Ahab to wage war against Syria. He acted foolishly to allow Ahab to disguise himself as a king. At the same time, he (Jehoshaphat) went to the war front in his full regalia. Only God saved him from that war. When he came back home, God sent a prophet to him to rebuke him for the evil covenant with Ahab. Many Christians today ally themselves with unbelievers and evil people. They do not yield to the warnings in 2 Corinthians 6:14-16: “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people’” (NKJV). Many have ruined themselves by this act. Christians are in the world, but not of the world. We are to be the light of the world, not to compromise our faith with the world. Who have you knowingly or unknowingly made any evil covenant with? Disconnect from that evil covenant if you want God to be pleased with you. Rise up today and pray against any evil covenant you might have made with the unbelievers. In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: Pray that you will have insight into who to have any alliance with.

WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD!

Dearly Beloved, WALK FAITHFULLY WITH GOD! “As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, then I will establish the throne of your kingdom…” (2 Chronicles 7:17-18a NKJV). Undoubtedly, every person has many expectations from God, especially when such a person has done something worthwhile for God and humanity. Like Nehemiah, such persons would pray to God that God should remember them for the good things they have done (see Nehemiah 13:14, 22, 30). It is good to ask for God’s favour because of any good thing one has done for Him or humanity. However, as God gave King Solomon some conditions after his prayer of dedication for the new befitting temple he built for God, there are conditions for God’s favour in life. King Solomon built a befitting temple for God. He prayed a lengthy prayer to dedicate the temple (see 1 Kings 8:22-61; 2 Chronicles 6:12-42). He also led the Israelites to sacrifice many offerings to consecrate the temple (1 Kings 8:62-66; 2 Chronicles 7:1-10). In response to these prayers and offerings of dedication, God gave Solomon and the people of Israel some conditions to enjoy His favour both in the temple and anywhere they find themselves. Parts of these conditions are repentance from sins if they sin against God and walking faithfully before God. Not meeting these conditions means doom for Solomon and the people of Israel. Later in history, the Israelites incurred the wrath of God because of their unfaithfulness to Him (see 2 King 17, 25). God is ready to favour as many people that are ready to walk faithfully with Him. It is good to work for God and be good to other people. However, such goodness can never serve as a bribe for the favour of God. Only those who are walking faithfully with Him will be favoured by Him. John Henry Sammis said in his famous hymn: “When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, what a glory He sheds on our way; while we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey. Trust and obey, For there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” Do you want the favour of God? Walk faithfully with Him! In His service, Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor). Prayer Point: O Lord, help me to walk faithfully with You in all my endeavours.
