QUOTE FOR THE DAY
Build your eternal home on Jesus Christ, the Solid Rock by obeying His teachings so that no kind of life storm will be able to move you. - Bayo Afolaranmi
************
PRAYER/ACTION FOR THE DAY
Pray that you will not be like the foolish who builds on the sand, but act like the wise who builds on Christ, the Solid Rock by obeying His teachings.
WHERE IS YOUR HOUSE?
Dearly Beloved,
WHERE IS YOUR HOUSE?
“Whoever hears these teachings of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock” (Matthew 7:24 ERV).
In the real life, each of us has a shelter where we recess at the end of the day. A shelter is one of the basic needs of life protects us from some physical hazards. This house may belong to us permanently, or it may be rented for a period of time. No one would want to have a shelter that is not safe for habitation, so we do everything possible to secure the house. However, the truth is that every house is prone to one danger or the other. The house's location, foundation, and status will determine how the house will withstand the danger.
Similarly, each of us has a spiritual cum everlasting shelter that protects us from spiritual and everlasting hazards. These hazards are inevitable (see John 16:33), but our house's location, foundation, and status will determine how the house will withstand the spiritual and everlasting hazards.
As Jesus Christ was rounding off His sermon on the mount, He told a parable of two people – a wise man and a foolish man. Both of them built houses to shelter them. The houses were confronted with similar hazards. The house of the wise man could withstand the dangers while the house of the foolish man could not. The locations and foundations of each house determined their ends. While the wise man located his house on a solid foundation, the foolish man located his house on a shaky foundation. The house of the wise man withstood the test of time while the house of the foolish man could not.
Where is your spiritual cum everlasting house? On what foundation did you build it? Will it withstand the test of time? In that parable, the wise man was the person who heard and obeyed Jesus Christ's teachings. In contrast, the foolish man was the person that heard but did not obey the instructions of Jesus Christ. Are you a wise man or a foolish man? The hymn writer, Edward Mote, declared, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
Where is your house?
In His service,
Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).
Prayer Point: Pray that you will not be like the foolish who builds on the sand, but act like the wise who builds on Christ the Solid Rock by obeying His teachings.

DO NOT BE LIKE THE RICH FOOL!
Dearly Beloved,
DO NOT BE LIKE THE RICH FOOL!
“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God” (Luke 12:20-21 NKJV).
“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’” (Psalm 14:1 NKJV).
I had an online chat with somebody recently. The person asked me to prove to her why she needs God after all she has. According to her, “Right now without God as my refuge, I am doing great, I know how to sail through life smoothly... if I am comfortable, why do I need God? What is going to be different?”
This lady is like the rich fool in a parable in Luke 12 who forgot to acknowledge his God because of his so-called sufficiency. The rich fool thought he could do without God. How wrong he was! He was taught the lesson of his life as he lost everything he had by first losing his life.
Many people feel that they do not need God because of their so-called sufficiency like wealth, position, security, affluence, and the like. Some of such people even deny the existence of God. How foolish they are! The fact that they are self-sufficient does not mean they have control over their lives. No matter how rich, affluent, influential or secure they are, they do not know when they will die, where they will die, what kind of death they will have or what will happen to them after death. They cannot even predict successfully what will happen to them in the next second! Anyone who knows these things can say that he does not need God.
In what way are you also behaving like that rich fool? Do you think you can sail through life smoothly without God despite how great you are doing? Jesus Christ said, “...apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NIV). Only a fool will forget his source (see Psalm 14:1).
You may acknowledge God and declare that you need Him. However, do you give Him the right place in your life? No matter who you are, God must be your first priority. Do not be like the rich fool!
In His service,
Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).
Prayer Point: Pray that you will not be like the rich fool, but will always ascribe the honour due unto God.

BLESSED TO BLESS OTHERS
Dearly Beloved,
BLESSED TO BLESS OTHERS
“Now the Lord had said to Abram: ‘Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’ So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him…” (Genesis 12:1-4 NKJV).
God gave Abraham some promises when He called him to leave his native country to a land that He would show him. The promises are basically promises of blessings. God promised to make the name of Abraham great. This promise was fulfilled in the lives and nation of the people of Israel, the Jews. Even till today, these people and their nation are still great. God promised to bless Abraham. This blessing was in many ramifications. However, he would be blessed to be a blessing to other people. He would be a channel of God’s blessings to other people. In fact, another related promise is that all peoples on earth will be blessed through Abraham. Although, many people and nations were blessed through Abraham and his descendants, undoubtedly, this later promise was fulfilled through Jesus Christ who came as the Seed of Abraham (see Galatians 3:16).
The life of Abraham was indeed a blessing to the people that he came in contact with. He willingly took Lot with him when he was leaving his people, and Lot became a great man through Abraham. Even when Lot seemingly cheated him and paid dearly for it, he went out to rescue him from his captors (see Genesis 14). Abraham was a blessing to the king of Sodom when he refused to claim the plunder. He was such a blessing that he was a blessing to angels unknowingly through his unreserved hospitality (see Genesis 18; Hebrews 13:2).
The promises to Abraham seem to be unconditional, but it is evident that they would have not been fulfilled if Abraham decided to be indifferent to the initial command of God to leave his country and his relatives. His obedience to the call of God is pivotal to his blessing and being a blessing to other people.
Do want to be blessed this year? Be ready to obey God and be a blessing to other people. He will make you a channel of His blessings to other people if you make yourself available to Him. You will be blessed to bless other people this year in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THE LORD WILL PERFECT THE WORK!
Dearly Beloved,
THE LORD WILL PERFECT THE WORK!
"I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]" (Philippians 1:6 AMP).
Welcome to another brand new year, the Year 2022. Philippians 1:6 quoted above is my key verse for the year. Like Apostle Paul declared to the Philippian Christians, I am convinced and confident that the Lord who has begun this year with you will not only continue to perfect and complete it but also make you live beyond the year and be glorified with Jesus Christ in His heavenly kingdom.
Apostle Paul and some other brethren started the church in Philippi. The church was generous to him when he was imprisoned. So, Paul wrote a letter of appreciation to the church. As he appreciated them and reminded them of what God had done in them, he expressed his conviction and confidence in God that God would continue the good work and perfect it at the final glorification of Jesus Christ and the believers in Him. One may be tempted to think that this work is something ephemeral. However, the work that Apostle Paul was referring to here is the work of eternal salvation that Jesus wrought in the life of every believer in Him. The work is a completed one and (at the same time) a continuous process that will be perfected at the end of the days. Paul's confidence was in God, not the Philippians, because it was God that was doing the work (and is still doing the work in every believer), and it is certain that God will complete the work.
God that has started this year with us will make us see the end of the year. He has started the work, and He will perfect it. God never begins anything that He will not be able to complete. When God starts a work in us, He will complete it. There shall be nothing lacking on God's part to support you this year. The work of God in your life will continue to grow and develop till it reaches perfection. It is an undisputed fact that many people will not see the end of this year. However, you will not be one of such people. You will see the end of this year in Jesus' name. Amen. Do you believe this? The implication then is that you should devote your life totally to God this year. It is certain that He will do His part. Will you do your part?
Once again, HAPPY NEW AND PROSPEROUS YEAR 2022!
In His service,
Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).
Prayer Point: Pray that you will be able to devote your life totally to God this year as He is ready to perfect His good work in you.
